Hypothesis: Provoked promotes a typical stereotype of the Asian man.

• Media language: Hoe certain aspects of the film show different things such as the lighting dimly lit in the room scene and her home .The costume, her sari being un ravelled when husband tries to make her have sex. What do these show ?

• Institution- Focus on the contemporary arts instititution

• Genre- drama

• Representation: How the males in the film are represented especially close attention to ‘Kiran Argawal’s’ Husband.

• Audience: How is the British born Asian male shown to a white viewing public?

• Ideology- Patriarchal & Heterosexual

Theorists to research into: Other Texts:

Wider Context

Social- Asian lifestyle and how men are being shown.

H-The historical context could be older Asian films which are showing that men are more dominant and controlling. For this I would have to look in depth and films which may not always be for the British viewing public
